Sweet & Smoky Potato Wedges

Sweet potato wedges are much healthier than chips/fries as a side dish and count as one of your 5-a-day! We think they taste better too… 


3-4 medium size sweet potatoes 
1 tsp smoked/sweet paprika
1/2 tsp cumin
3 tbsps olive oil
1 tbsp thyme leaves
salt and pepper, to taste


  1. Begin by preheating the oven to 200°C/180°C fan/gas mark 6.
  2. Wash the sweet potatoes, then use a sharp knife to cut them into wedges, leaving the skin on.
  3. Add the sweet potatoes to a mixing bowl, together with the thyme leaves, olive oil, paprika, salt and pepper. Use your hands to ensure all the wedges are coated.
  4. Spread the sweet potatoes out onto a baking tray, then cook for 35-40 minutes or until golden.
  5. Use oven gloves to remove the wedges from the oven, leave to rest for a couple of minutes then use a spatula to transfer to your plate.

Chef’s tips

Add chilli powder if you want extra heat!
