Here's what the Bounceback Food team have been up to!

In just over a month, our first Community Kitchen in Manchester is turning one – and we want to celebrate with all of you!

Opening our first permanent kitchen site was a huge step forward for our growing Community Cookery School. Working in different locations around the country, our outreach programmes are delivered primarily across community centres, faith spaces, and other venues. Having a permanent kitchen site in Manchester has therefore meant we can develop and increase our meal drive and distribution operations alongside our food education workshops. It has also allowed us to host some of our outreach work, fundraising events, and more on our own site.

Our Community Kitchen is open 6 days a week and distributes on average 400 meals across 12 different partner foodbanks and sheltered accommodation sites in Greater Manchester every week. It also directly serves local people experiencing homelessness, as well as providing a space for community events to bring more people together through food. We’ve held everything from cooking workshops with partner charities to fine-dining fundraisers, and can’t wait for what’s coming up in the rest of the year. It’s safe to say our Community Kitchen has been a much-needed addition to our organisation and as we come up to Bounceback Food’s 10 year anniversary, one we hope to develop in new locations.

After such a jam-packed year, we wanted to do something truly special and bring as many of you along as possible. That’s why on Saturday 29th June, we will be hosting an all-day Street Party fundraiser!

That’s right, we’re getting all our favourite neighbouring traders on board and bringing the street to life, all whilst tackling food poverty at the same time. Bring your friends and family down to our Community Kitchen on Central Way, Altrincham from 9am to 5pm for a full day of live music, food and drink, activities, and other amazing local traders on the street.

You can find a provisional timetable and tickets for the day here, but keep your eyes peeled for lots more exciting activities and offers yet to be announced! Our ticketed activities and demos do have limited capacity, so make sure to book your spot quickly. However, the main party is free to attend and no tickets are required to soak up the atmosphere. The more the merrier! We guarantee there will be something for everyone – and of course, all proceeds will go towards the growth of our Community Cookery School.

If you can’t join us in person to celebrate but would like to support our work, head to our website to see all the ways you can get involved. From our Summer Holiday Hunger crowdfunding campaign to remote volunteering roles, there are endless opportunities to make a difference wherever you are.

As always, a huge thank you for supporting our work so far. We can’t wait to celebrate with you all!
